Manchester Flash Mob #1
Manchesters first Flash Mob was almost thwarted by the target getting wind of what was up and shutting its doors. However the umbrella wielding mob staged the event in the street outside a nearby club.

Well, Manchester’s very first flash mob threatened to go horribly wrong
I was stationed in Sinclair’s Oyster Bar, and within seconds of arriving, I had lots of people asking for the info.
During which time, I was also approached by numerous journalists and cameramen from different sources, but we all agreed to refuse any publicity so they went away a bit pissed off.
So 20 minutes into handing out leaflets, I stopped and enjoyed my pint. Turned out I’d given out 82 sheets, and a lot of the people who took them shared 1 between a clan of people.
Just before the time, we went to the scene (the filmworks cinema in the printworks). The plan was to stand by the queue, open our umbrellas and cheer everybody who bought a ticket for a film.
Problem was, somehow the cinema got word of this, and everybody was greeted with the entrance closed by shutters. Panicking, we tried to get everybody into the Norwegian Blue bar and celebrate everybody buying a drink. But the bouncers wouldn’t let everybody in.
Noticing the time was here to start, we just decided to open our umbrellas, and scream our heads off whilst jumping up and down, for 5 straight minutes. As the time came, we then closed our umbrellas whilst screaming "wheeeee". Then we all left.
Almost turned into a disaster but thanks to everybody who used their initiative and joined in the adlibbed fun. We got between 500 and 600 people tonight, so it was a very good turn out.
