flash dub

A new type of flash mob: The flash dub!
Performed by CGI for Kids Help Phone

For many years, CGI’s office in Quebec City has taken part in the annual Walk for Kids Help Phone, raising funds to support the organization in its mission to improve the well being of children and youth by providing anonymous and confidential professional counseling.

On May 2 2010, the date of this year’s walk, it was “A Beautiful Day” at Place d’Youville Square in Quebec City, when CGI demonstrated once again its commitment to the cause by performing a flash mob.

For this event, CGI created a new concept: the flash dub. This unique formula, created and performed entirely by members (employees) in CGI’s office in Quebec City, brings together three different performance approaches in a public setting.

It combines a freeze, reminding one of the origins of today’s flash mob, a lip dub, filmed with a single long take, and a flash mob. The flash mob scenario, along with the background song—U2’s “A Beautiful Day”—are intimately related to Kids Help Phone’s mission of delivering a message of hope for children and youth in need.

The harmonious combination of those three distinctive concepts, staged and filmed only once, made CGI’s innovative team the first to perform a flash dub.

About 100 CGI members and some of their children took part in the performance, which demonstrates the commitment of this multigenerational group to the well being of the youth.

You can view the official video of CGI’s flash mob on YouTube : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ex2O7iMGyHQ

A Flashmob in central London ... to chase a large mosquito!!

We are chasing a mosquito as a publicity stunt to raise awareness about malaria one of the biggest killers in the world killing 1,000,000 people each year and putting half of the world’s population at risk. The female anopholes mosquito is the tiny but deadly transmitter of the malaria parasite. It is preventable and in order to eradicate this disease, we need to raise awareness of the terrible impact of this disease and mobilise mass action.

Lets come together in solidarity to mobilise this mass action and spread the word about this deadly disease that needn’t exist.

Location and time to be confirmed at a later date…. just join the Facebook event for more details

Type: Flashmob
Where: Potsdamer Platz, Berlin
When: Saturday, February 20 from 2:00 pm

Do you want the French not to be told by their state what their national identity has to be?
Do you want everyone to be able to define their own way to be french?

“Be French” and take part into the Flashmob ID in Berlin

- Shortly before 2pm, stay around the clock situated on Potsdamer Platz and act like a normal pedestrian!
- When you hear the French national anthem, gather (very) quickly and form rows of 8 persons so that the group looks like a legion. Face the clock, have a serious look and wear black (cf. accessories).
- When you hear the first signal, lift your placard of THE typical French and march slowly.
- Then, each time you hear the signal, turn right and continue to march.
Stay serious and remember you are a legion!
Here is what it should look like :

- When the music changes (you will hear a mixing sound), throw your placard on the ground and freeze.
- When the French national anthem is played again, move freely within the group. Take a hat/cap from your pocket (cf. accessories) and greet other mobbers as you like.
- When the music stops, pick up a placard from the ground and disperse.

Required accessories:
- Black clothes. A black plastic bag with holes for arms can do of course!
- Have your placard with the drawing of THE typical French, available here:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2526/4292948950_13aca44c3f_b_d.jpg
(to be printed and glued on cardbox; format A4, a folder will do!)
- have in your pocket a hat - bright colours and strange shapes are welcome!

Following this weeks stories about Tesco banning people wearing pyjamas in their stores (despite the Tesco adverts with Martin Clunes wearing pyjamas in a Tesco store) there have been a lot of suggestions that a Tesco pyjama Flashmob take place.

Because of the recent ban in Tesco stores, of ‘no pyjamas’ we thought we would organise a national event called WEAR YOUR PJ’S TO TESCO. It starts on 20th March at around midday, basically the point is to get together, and walk around your local Tesco before you get bored, or get chucked out.

The facebook event page is :

Flashmob by Animal Rights activists at the Crufts dog show.

Date: Thursday, March 11, 2010
Time: 1:00pm - 2:05pm
Location: Birmingham Nec

THE PLAN
STEP 1. get to the meeting space for 1pm (with a blanket or sleeping bag, this is important to the flash mob) here you will be given instructions and props
STEP 2. make your way to the NEC, walk around, get a coffee, and wake your way to inside the front entrance for 2pm
STEP 3. FLASH MOB (the starting signal will be explained at the meeting space)
STEP 4. leave

WHY WE ARE DOING THIS
The point of this Flash mob is a fun way to state a very simple point
‘dont breed or buy whilst shelter dogs die’
150 dogs are killed in the UK every week because they have no homes to go to. arguably the main cause of this is the idea that somehow pure-bred dogs are somehow superior to others.
If the people realised that all dogs are equal no-matter what they look like, people would be more inclined to rescue instead of breeding or buying
